Went up to the delta on Friday, put in at Paradise Point. Very little, almost no delta boat activity around. We cruised down to Garlic Brothers for appetizers and cocktails, never past another boat. From there we went up to Moore's Riverboat for dinner. I told my buddy that we should have a good meal at either Moores, Lighthous or Korths's. Lo and behold all were closed. We then in the dark started to walk to Happy Harbor but I had forgot how far a walk it was. A highway patrolman stopped us to see what was the matter, and when he found out we were honorable citizens gave us a lift to Happy Harbor where we had a great dinner of lobster and rib eye. We then took a taxi back to Moores where we were tied up. Next morning we had breakfast in Rio Vista and headed up river to Old Town Sac. We spent the night there after dinner and drinks in Old Town. We tied up behind the Delta King and went to sleep. Rained cats and dogs most of the night but we were dry and comfortable in the cabin. Great night, lunch at Al the Wops on Sunday and a good cruise back to Paradise. The weather, except for Sat night, was mild, water calm and the scenery was pure delta, scenery that I never tire of.

Sounds like a good time. Thats a heck of a trip from Stockton to Sac. Did you get any fog on the way?

I posted my first trip in another thread, but will repeat a little here. I moved my boat from Disco Bay down to Pier 39 about 3 weeks ago. Had a couple of friends with me and one of them was taking tons of pictures, so I didn't get my camera out. Somehow he deleted the pics before sending to me. Kind of a bummer as the Delta water was like a mirror all the way to Antioch. Barely a ripple through San Pablo Bay and then very calm in the Bay. Never took one drop of spray on the windshield! Made it in 4 hours, averaged about 20knts.
 
We had just a little fog on Sat morning but nothing that gave us any trouble, after the rain on Sat night, no fog at all on Sunday. We did burn a hundred gallons of gas or so but well worth the cost.

Anyone know when The Lighthouse opens up? I've called and they don't even have a message on the answering machine saying anything. Not good for business.

And that is why they don't have any business...

We stay there in our motorhome a few times per year and this past summer, they were empty! We had our pick of RV spaces, which is rare during the summer.

Oh well, we thought the new owners had their chit together. I guess not...
 
DBH, thanks for the great trip report!!!! I always loved times like that in the Delta.

Many, many, many Delta eateries are closed for 3-4 months during the winter. There just is not enough business to warrant staying open! Always call ahead before making your plans. The dinner at Happy Harbor sounds delicious! I think that Spindrift, down the road further, is also open during the winter.

You are exactly right about the eateries (I cannot spell resturaunt??)Same with gas. We were running a bit low when we got into Walnut Grove and the Boathouse was closed. There was nothing until we got to Veiera's. My buddy asked why all the fuel docks were closed and I remineded him we had past two boats the whole way to Sacramento. No boats on the water makes keeping a fuel dock open a little ridiculous.
