1)a, 2) c at port / d on the water, 3) b, 4) -, 5)a, 6)-, 7)b, 8) Instead of shortening, might be more versatile to add channels and split up the coverage area (narrow-cast). 9) Free Sirius weather displays. Seriously, RSS feeds for alerts for those with laptops on the water or allow registration of SMS message alerts for people with cellphones on the water.

Weather forecasts are rarely correct, and ALWAYS LATE. Last year, we were anchored at Croton, we put on the weather radio and the forecast was for clear skies and calm seas. We watched a wicked thunderstorm cross the river and come right over us - strong winds, cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain. About 1/2 hour after it passed, they reported that it was on it's way!

a) yes
b) no

(8) If you are a listener of NOAA weather radio, what do you think we can do to shorten the program cycle? What can be shortened? What can be cycled? What should be deleted?

The BS about their "open houses", any forecast outside the listening area.

(9) What change or addition to the National Weather Service would have the most impact on your life???

Accurate,timely forecasts

Forecasts that are accurate. Everyime we planned a tuna trip you called for bad weather, we cancelled, find out the seas were great, fish were biting. The day we do go, forecast is good, we end up riding 4-6 foot swells all night, next day was perfect. Only one day late.

Thanks for the posts, guys! I figured you'd want to participate. I'll transpose your answers onto an official form and forward to the National Weather Service. They're gonna get an eyeful with some of the responses, but that's great - now they can see what we think about them in the REAL world!!!

Anybody else who's out there, please feel free to respond also...
