This weeks project is installing overhead lighting on my Bimini. My boat has zero overhead lighting, so i had a 1/4" x 1" x 70" piece of starboard cut, to which I affixed a waterproof RGBW led strip with double stick reinforced with 1/2" plastic Romex staples. Looks real good, and I secured it to the Bimini with snaps (to the underside of where a tube runs - hard to explain). Anyway, I want to keep the controller inside the dash, so I need 5 conductor cable that I can run up one of the support tubes. It will need to be as thin as possible, I'm thinking 20ga/5 and will definitely need to be UV resistant, as it will be exposed all day, every day. The supplier provided some Belden cable, but it's PVC jacketed, which I suspect won't hold up long (no uv resistance mentioned on Belden's site). Ancor makes a 14/5 cable, but that's going to be way too thick to run up a 1" ss tube with zip ties... Any suggestions?

There are reasons you do not often see exposed wiring. You have noticed one of them. ( Note that animals chew wires, too! )
Answer: use conduit. Or other metallic tube. ALL plastic suffers from UV, some more than others ( even a boat hull ).

I suppose I could, but the problem is that I take the whole top off when we wrap it up for the winter. With 5 conductors, I can't use a convenient disconnect unfortunately.

That is an awesome site! I've been playing with the idea of a 3/8" stainless tube as a conduit, but this may just finish it off. They will build you connectors pre-wired - love that.
