I will be taking delivery of a new Sea Fox 210 Walk around in a few weeks. The boat will be in fresh water for 6 months each year. On my boat now I use VC-17 each year, works ok. My question. Can I just 150 grit lightly sand the gel coat and apply the VC-17 ? Or should I prime and or do something first ? Thanks.
Part 2.. As I will have no idea as to where the water line will be, can I do this ? I have means here at work to remove the boat from the trailer and place on blocks. I would like to paint the bottom and up the sides to a point where I know I'll be below the water line. Launch for a week or so to get a water line, or mark same day and remove boat. This time I can leave the boat on the trailer, bring the bottom paint up to the proper level which I can do on location, allow to dry and re launch.
