New floor in my 440 Express

I had to cut a couple of new hatches to tighten up the spacing between them, Thought about the added heat and noise ,replaced all the factory sound shield with some that has a "lead" sheet between the foam and a foil covering. I glued the flooring down with vinyl floor glue. And doing this also allowed me to put 3 new hatches in my floor. Now I can get to my gen-set and sea-cocks without moving everything..

Tony, what did you use for the under hatch sound dampening...Sound Down is pretty pricey, figured you had an alternative?

Have not noticed any increase in noise, we have two big throw rugs, so I guess they absorb some of the noise. My engines and genset are all the way aft, not under the cabin floor.

The only thing that scares me about the above applications is the notion that walking around barefoot I might get snagged on a corner or lift pull while under way.
Would it make sense to recess the pulls into the hatches a little?

If your engines are in the cockpit, it won't be as loud as the boats with engines under the salon floor.

What is the trim around the hatches and where did you get it?
Jim

Sound down seems to be what I got Jamie. To redo every hatch was around $200.00 and worth it.. Boatbum I catch the finger pulls less now that they lay flat on the floor, I did move one as so it's not in the main path way.

I used 5/8" aluminum "L" molding bought from Home Depot.

Here's some pictures of the flooring in Tony's Carver. The last one is of mine in my Trojan. Being in a covered slip I didn't have too much light, so the pic is not that great. But I would definetly recommend installing.

Hello,
I am new to this forum, or any forum for that matter. I think I just sent a blank reply. So sorry.

Anyway, I was looking at the pictures of the Carver that had vinyl plank flooring installed. It is the same year and make as my Carver. I have lots of questions on how this was done. Reel Antsy posted them of Tony's Carver. How do I get in touch with Tony? Please advise. I am getting ready to install flooring and would really appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you so much,
