Vic or others. I'm going to put in a new fresh water flush Sea Era in the forward head. The holding tank is about 8' away from the head. I plan on using PVC pipe where I can. Question is, can the flush time be set? Also, right by the holding tank I have a duck bill pump (was used on the old vacuflush unit). Could this be incorporated into the mix or should it be removed? I'm wondering with that long of a run (the drop isn't too much at all) will fluid lay in the pipe and plug easily. And if I have to make the flush longer, it will deplete the fresh water supply quicker. The boat is a 47' Chris Commander. The holding tank is under the galley if you know the boat style.
Thanks in advance!

In standard configuration, the SeaEra head comes with a pushbutton switch that is a momentary operation - push the buttton, it flushes; let go, it stops. Raritan offers an extra cost optional timer that can be installed, that locks the toilet in for a pre-set period of time, anywhere from 0-20 seconds. Part # RTC12. It is a delay action timer and solenoid combination, Raritan's retail price for it is $130.00.

As far as the 8 foot offset, whether it be PVC pipe or sanitation hose, you've got to run the toilet long enough with each flush to clear the lines after flushing the bowl. You can't simply flush until everything has left the bowl, then stop. the toilet must flush longer, to clear the lines and be sure everything has actually made it to the tank; otherwise, you will be subject to clogs in the line. There's just no way around it, particularly if the line is nearly horizontal all the way.

Thank you very much Vic. I'll put the timer on my list to get when I get the head. I'll make sure it's preset long enough. It's the guest head so it would be better for my sanity to flush longer.
