Toward the end of the season I noticed my pump was cycling and the bowl was void of water that was there after the last flush.. What is the process for replacing the seal ?

Surprisingly easy. At least for my model, which is old, but I think the process is the same.

You remove the clamp around the bowl. The bowl then lifts straight up off the base. Under it, without obstruction is the bowl seal. Two flat seals go there. Pull the old one off, sit the new one down, then sit the bowl back on and reinstall the clamp. On mine, I had enough hose length to lift the bowl without removing the hoses.

The last one took me 15 minutes start to finish and it was the 2nd one I had ever done.

Just caught this thread. If you haven't gone through this yet, try smearing a little silicon grease on the seal after running your finger around it a few times to get conformed properly. You have to have the ball open in the flush mode. Nine times out of ten this will solve the issue without tearing the head apart and spending money on seals. I learned the silicon grease trick here from GeeBee and it may be the single most valuable piece of advice I have got from Boater's Ed.

OK, thanks, haven't replaced the seal yet so I will try the silicone grease first. And if it doesn't work, at least I know how easy the seal is to replace.

Bill, I'm not proud; the finger (in a latex glove) seems to work just fine. 2 1/2 years now of full time use, the seals are just fine.
