I have on tap on the boat that makes an awful banging or rapping noise when I turn the water on in another tap...If I open the tap that is making the noise the rapping goes away...
Any ideas???...

Sounds like a water hammer. Do you have an accumulator tank in your fresh water system?

accumulator tank??. I have a fresh water tank and the pump supplies pressure as needed...The water tank is not pressurized..

Thanks for the info...
This noise has been in the boat since I bought it, so I assume that someone has removed this tank, or it never came with one...
I see different sizes of tanks on the link provided...Do I just need a small one or large...They range in price from 50 bucks to 175...

You might also want to check the washers, and be sure they are good and tight,( only if its not a washerless faucet) in the suspect faucet. After twenty five years of managing rental properties,I have seen quite a few loose washers cause this same noise. As the water pressure is released around the loose washer, it causes it to flutter or bang shut.(same principal as used in Fluidmaster tank fill valve washers.)

Good point Mike; one that hadn't originally occurred to me, but you're right - that is a possibility.

have you checked you hoses to make sure that are securely attached to the boat? I added pipe insulation to a couple of areas of pipe that I found we wiggling and hitting the hull and making some knocking noices.
