We've been from the middle of the C&D to the mouth of the Chesapeake, but we've never ventured any further north. We've got a week off leading up to Labor Day. I'm looking for some RO input as to what there is to see and do north of the C&D. Is Cape May worth a stop? Any other destinations you can suggest?

We just returned from a long weekend in Cape May and plan to return next year. There are a variety of marinas, from bare bones to pampered. Plenty of neat restaurants, many of them BYOB. Crabbing was good although not quite as tasty as Chesapeake Bay Blue Claws. Lots of fishing available. Plenty of shops if that is your thing. Some folks don't like the distance that the marinas are from the town. Bring bikes, rent bikes at Utch's marina, or walk into town to one of the bike rental shops. Keep the bikes for your whole stay. Taxis are available if you prefer.

Often times the temp is several degrees cooler in Cape May than back home. Enjoy a day on the beach. If you tire of Cape may run on down to Lewes DE for a few days.

You may need to be a little flexble on Delaware Bay crossing days; it can be quite choppy at times.

Mix, that sounds like a good idea, and if you get bored in CpMa, just run 1/2hr.further north (inside) to schooners marina in Wildwood. Good water, easy run , and other things to see. Been to both and had a good time. I know your boat runs in about anything, but as mentioned pick a good day for the Del. We have gotten beaten up one time there, and there aren't any good places to run to.

Thanks for the information so far. And yes, we'll watch the conditions. I've heard far too many "interesting" stories about how the Delaware can get. I'm guessing it's a lot like the southern Chesapeake, which can be very much no fun at times.

Hey Kurt...you should be able to handle the Delaware without issues in your boat. The tide plays a big part on the Delaware Bay so it would help to play that in your favor. If you want a nice adventure just head straight to Ocean City, MD. I've done that trip quite a few times on everything from 20' boats on up and always had fun.

If you're really feeling like an adventure do the DelMarVa loop....
