If so can you tell me about your trip? Do you have photos. What hazards should I look out for.

Yes, I made the trip last year. I was a great cruise the whole time and we had plenty of water under us all the way although we made sure to go up and back at high tide. The turning basin is large and is right in the middle of town. The bridge will need to be opened but the tender is a phone call away with the number painted on the bridge. A great trip to the town where American Graffiti was made.

Just a quick follow up. We made our trip in November and we were the only boat in the turning basin. In the summer, this place can get busy and all docking is stern in only. If you go and have seen the movie "American Graffiti" it is a kick in the pants to get a map of all the sites in Petaluma where the filming took place. There is a American Grafitti/Petaluma website thats a bunch of fun.

If you haven't seen the movie or want to refresh your memory, take the DVD and a player and watch it on the boat.

Even today you feel like you're back in time.

One last follow up. In the past couple years, a buddy of mine and I have cruised not only up the Petaluma River to Petaluma, but also up the Suisun Slough to the Suisun Marina and up the Napa River to downtown Napa. All were marveous, very scenic cruises and water condions were very adequate. I could not recommend a cruise to any of these places higher. We generally cruise up one day at high tide, spend the night and come back home the next day. I am running out of places to go so if anyone out there has some suggestions, let me know.
