I need to move a 29’ Regal with twin outboards. I need to go from Brick NJ to Point Lookout NY.
The shortest route takes me thru the Point Pleasant Canal. Does anyone have any insight? I see the canal maintains a 4’ depth. The current can be a problem. I’m not sure if it’s a big problem or not?
Thank you

When will you be passing thru? On summer weekends it can get busy, and rough, see the video below. But summer is almost over, so you should be fine. Even on the worst days, in that boat I would not fear the canal. Some of the Jersey fools, that’s another story.

From Brick, going north that is 100% the way you want to go. No point in going all of the way south to barnegat, which isn’t a great inlet.

That looks like fun. I would be going on a weekday. I'm watching sea conditions and hope to have a day next week?
Thank you.

Just check your weather - there's just over 37 miles of open ocean from Manasquan Inlet to East Rockaway Inlet. I'd be more concerned about the Pond than the canal!

It can get snotty, but you should be able to handle it easily

I've been through it several times, you should be fine. Aim for slack tide if you are concerned.

BTDT the tide does run strong through there.
