Connie wants to rent a place for part of the summer. Has to be near restaurants and stuff, safe area for walking and have a view. Any suggestions.

Bruce, for what you are describing, I would actually suggest looking into Boothbay Harbor in Maine. My wife and I often go up there for weekends. It's a beautiful harbor with both working and pleasure boats, plenty of places to stay on the water, and free trolley rides around town. Lot of shops and restaurants and everything is very walkable.
