Does anyone know where I could rent a power boat on the Hudson? I have a home in Manhattan and would like to explore the Hudson river starting from as close to Manhattan as possible.

Thanks, Rick

Really, I could rent you my 28' SunRunner for as little as $20 a day. Two year minimum required (365*2*20 = $14,600).

Considering the slip and winter storage for 2 years approaches $6,000.00, to say nothing about insurance and maintenance, would you take $8,000.00 for it today?

Hold on, let me grab my ankles.
If you were a true gentleman, you'd buy me dinner first.

There's an outfit called the Freedom Boat Club based in City Island. They don't rent the boats per se, but they offer something similar to timeshares. You can get in for a fraction of the cost of true ownership. I've met the owners, they are nice guys. Ask for Dan or David and tell 'em Pete from Mahopac referred you to them if you call and maybe they'll give you some nice treatment. Or maybe they'll screw you - I don't know, but its worth the try :)...

Seriously, they're nice folks. Also there is a place called Typhoon Boat Club in Liberty Landing (I think). I don't have their number handy but they have had ads in Boating on the Hudson lately, similar arrangements to Freedom Boat Club...

The only other true rentals I know of are Riverview Marine in Catskill...
