Anyone know how many gallons AF I'll need to completely fill 1991 454 Crusaders? Raw water cooled. TIA, I tried searching, but couldn't find.

How are you going to do it? Run them up to temp and then run them on anti-freeze or drain them and backfill? If you run them on antifreeze, be sure to drain some off the block from each side and test the freeze point. When I do that, I run about 5 gallons of pure antifreeze per engine and am never happy with the freeze point even though the t stats should have been open. I always chcken out, drain the blocks empty and then backfill with 4 gallons of 50/50 low tox propylene glycol. (454 Crusaders)

I've run 5 gal. pure for 20 years, with the thermos out, never a problem. I don't keep the thermos in because, how opened are they, I have twins. I also only use straight car anti-freeze, can't spell eytholine glycaul, it is kind to the rubber.

I just pull the hose off the thru hull and put it in a bucket, run the engine keeping the bucket full until the 5 gallons are sucked into the engine.

That's what I do. I have easy access to the brass plugs (5) and the only part required is a new thermostat gasket. Doing it this way it will not dilute the antifreeze nearly as much as by adding antifreeze while the engine is running and sucking it up thru a hose or outdrive. My 7.4L Merc takes about 6 gallons to do.

I have FWC Crusader 454XLs & I use 2 gal of AF mixed with 2 gal of water per engine. Also, I use propylene glycol AF; "NOT" the pink stuff. Sierra is one of few automotive type AF that is propylene glycol based rather than ethylene glycol with is toxic.

I always used an old GVP trick, 50/50 mix of non-tox AF (not the pink stuff) and windshield washer fluid.

the blocks will hold just under 4 gallons apiece.
