Rampant Flooding on Long Island

That was the headline on CNN this morning. I am not on Long Island right now. Anyone have eyes down near the water, curious with the full moon how high the high tide will be today and how bad the flooding may be.

Please post any observations.

The flooding is mostly rain related. Islip got 14" of water overnight. If you have an open boat, you need to check on it.

Looks like high tide may add to the problems. High tide is at 2:00 pm. It's 10:00 and already higher than yesterday's high. The wind is blowing pretty good from the sse. Lets hope for the best.

I'm heading out to Eastport in a few hours to check on the boat and to do some work on one engine. Right now, the wind is still blowing from the SSW and it's raining here in Medford. What a night! LIE is closed at exit 50 and traffic is backed up in both directions. Brentwood library, where my wife works, not opening till 1:00. Stay safe, all. Hy
 
Was just down at my slip on the Patchogue River. River was about a foot and a half below the top of the boardwalk leading to my slip. All the boats there were fine but I'll have to take another look later on, high tide is at about 12:46 which is an hour from now.

Babylon high tide is at 12:44 and the water is almost up to the top of the dock on shore road across the canal from me now, so I imagine it will go over. Last night was non-stop downpours, got some rain water downstairs when leaves clogged my drains but not a big deal. I imagine plenty of houses had some flooding though.
 
Tide never came up over the dock across from me.
 
I was down at my dock at noon which was about an hour before high tide for the area. Water was over the bulkhead a bit down closer to the bay, but not near what I would have expected. Things would have been a lot worse if the rain would have come when the tide was up. I would say by the time the tide was highest it would be about a foot or so over the street. Wind was out of the south/southwest when I was there, but wasn't crazy.
As long as you have enough slack in your lines if you are on a fixed bulkhead you should be fine. If you are on a floating dock, there should be no problem at all.
If I had an open boat I would check it to make sure the batteries are still running the bilge pump because of the enormous amount of rain.
 
AYC water got close to top of docks but never went over.

Ugh.....I live on the water and am very cognizant of the tides. My wife always parks in the driveway and I park in the street. Yesterday I was playing with my daughter and she wanted to draw pirate ships in the driveway with chalk. I moved my wife's car into the street....probably 3rd time I have ever sat in driver seat. Based on the forecast I was not concerned about moving the cars. Went to bed not thinking twice. Well her car flooded.....her camaro....her 40 something , I feel good about myself purchase. Slightly tense day today, to say the least. I woke at 5:30 hearing the rain and went to check the boats. The tide was relatively low, then I saw the street and her car and the pucker factor kicked in. The drains could not keep up. We aren't big insurance clims people so hopefully it all works out. In the midst of a 2 week vacation and I am in the flooded dog house.

Doh!! I feel for ya, my wife has a "her car" an 02 430 Lexus...I get a rash of s**t when I cut a board in the garage and get sawdust on it...can`t imagine if something like that happened!
