Randy Fry "Big Ten" Fishing & Diving Tournament
Ocean Cove, October 14th, 2006
Who: The public is welcome - this angling and free dive tourney is in memory of the late, great Randy Fry - the avid abalone diver, fisherman, competitive spearfisher who dedicated his efforts to the rights of anglers and divers.
What: Join us for a fun saltwater fishing and diving tournament with trophies for abalone and nearshore rockfish. This year, in addition to divisions for spear pole free divers and speargun free divers, we've added divisions for shore, kayak and skiff anglers.
When: Saturday, October 14, 2006. Check in begins at 8am.
Where: Ocean Cove Campground on the Sonoma County Coast, about 15 miles north of Jenner at 23125 Highway One. We've reserved a group campsite and encourage participants to join us at Ocean Cove Friday evening. Individual sites are available on a first-come, first served basis, and there are plenty of sites available at nearby state parks.

Entry fee: $20, includes lunch, trophy awards, raffle ticket, silent auction and a chance to win a New Prowler Big Game Ocean Kayak (thanks to the Sonoma County Abalone Network and Clavey River Equipment in Petaluma). Iron Chef Eugene Porter will work his magic on the Baja style fish tacos, chowder and other seafood goodies.
Rules: This is a team event, 2 per team. Each team must check in at Ocean Cove Campground and check out by 1 pm for the weigh in. Trophies awarded for Free Dive Spear, Shore Angling, Kayak Angling and Abalone Diving. Largest aggregate team weight wins. Violation of DFG rules, late check out disqualifies.
