Rebuilt 454 still can't rev past ~3000 RPM Solved!

In case of emergency re: the slave solenoid going out, you can jump the two small connections first. If that don't do it, jump the two bigger connections...BUT, connect a heavy gauge (jumper cable size) to each large connector first using separate cables. Only then contact the loose end of the jumper which will give you a big spark. The same technique goes for jumping the starter solenoid on the starter. The purpose is to prevent welding the threaded connections which may prevent removal of the connector nuts.

and another FYI, the two small connectors is where you connect a 'remote' jumper switch. Allows you to rotate the engine without having the ignition system energized....for compression tests or checking valve timing or valve lift, or just checking starter or solenoids. I have a permanent remote switch which I also use to pre-lube/circulate oil in the block if the engine has been sitting a long time.
