Hi. Help, and a note of caution.

After years of doing the same thing ... I placed a hot pan on the glass stove top. About 5 minutes later, the top exploded into millions of chunks of glass. Lesson ... always have hot plates or pads available.

In the meantime, any recommendations on a fix?

I'd call the manufacturer and tell them what happened and see if they offer a replacement or a discount on a replacement. The surface heats up enough to boil water in a short period of time. That should not have happened.
 
Just as a follow-up. Did this. They had stock on hand, and had to me within 2 weeks for under $200. Quite pleased.
 
Who's the manufacture? They deserve recognition for the good service.
 
I had the same thing happen in my 250 SundancerSea and rep laced it with starboard so it would never break and I could use it as a cutting board. Less than $50, the only catch was you had to wait for stove to cool before putting the top down.
