Rev Limiter?

Got a dumb question for ya folks. I have a Chaparral 204ssi with a Volvo Penta 5.0 gxi(Fuel Injected), and have been testing props to find out exactly what I want.

I've read that with some props, if it makes my engine surpass rev limit at Wide Open Throttle,, the rev limiter kicks in. Was wondering how it works and how will I know it has kicked in?
