Ryde Hotel Video

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Ryde overnight after cruising up there from the Rio Vista area. Its a marvelous old place and the food and hospitality are topnotch. The Sunday brunch is also very nice and makes for a great Sunday cruise for the brunch from almost anywhere in the delta area. They have a guest dock that can handle a couple boats. Fun place.

I boated there with a small group of boats one time. We had dinner there and spent the night. It was a great cruise except returning on Sunday 'cause the wind kicked up so. Getting past Rio Vista and to # Mile Slough was exciting......but everyone made it just fine!

I just love the Ryde Hotel and used to stop there for a break via car when they were open all weekend.

Flutterby,

One night in my youthful, stupid years, I went from Viera's Resort south past Rio Vista, took a left at the Three Mile Bridge right before Decker Island and proceeded to night fish with my brother. The wind picked up about midnight and we decided to head back to Viera's. When I came under the Three Mile Bridge, all hell broke loose. Heavy wind, waves and tidal surge all combined to knock my 24 foot Bayliner sideways. It was a little scary and instead of heading back home, we took a quick left and went behind Decker Island where we stayed 3-4 hours until the wind let up and the tide changed. Thats the roughest I ever saw it on the old swamp.

You were wise to duck behind Decker! That can really be a nice anchorage if the wakes aren't too bad!

When it is windy, Franks is one of the worst places! Shallow water and a long reach with rock lined levees......oh what fun!

I visited the Ryde a couple of weeks back- for the first time. I had no idea it was a beautifull inside as it is. Really classy 20's decor. I didn't realize they had their own golf course - just a little 9 hole with about 150 yards as the longest, but looked like fun! I'm throwing my clubs in for the next visit. It is also a great place for weddings and events, with large open garden that would probably seat over 100. Pretty cool place!

What a windy day! It was so nice yesterday, and just blew all day at Oxbow - about 30 mph! Lots of dust.
