Sand tiger sharks Great S. Bay

I have heard for years that there were sand tiger sharks caught by the kismet ferry dock and that the juvenile sharks gather there. A friend just told me that the location that was tracked was in Hemlock Cove. Does anyone have any info on this. Couldn't find anything on the location on the net

When I was a kid I caught a sand shark in Hemlock ! A few people have caught in zachs … NOt uncommon.

Yup, when i was a kid we caught them at the sound beaches all the time

Robski just to verify you caught a sand shark/dog fish in Hemlock or a Sand tiger Shark in Hemlock.

I haven't a clue the difference. Its hanging on the wall in my old bedroom At my parents house . ill take a picture one day. I was told its a " SAND SHARK " by the taxidermist.

Few years back the feds and state DEC were all over the area from clam pond to ocean beach, looking for sharks. . I believe that was the area they said nursery was. You used to see a bunch in Atlantique basin. There were youtube videos.

Atlantique basin was always what I heard about also and saw the you tube videos.

My then 9 year old son caught one in the State Boat Channel about 10 years ago. It was a baby. We threw it back. I think they’re pretty common in the bay in summer.:

Never heard of a Sand Tiger Shark before. To me, it looks like what, a few decades ago, they used to call a Nurse Shark and their look and disposition of not being aggressive is the same.
