I just had scans and compression checks done on a 2002 Wellcraft Martinique 3700 with twin 8.1 HOs. I am under contract to purchase the boat.

Port engine 493 total
0 - 749 138
750 - 1449 190
1500 - 2999 83.5
3000 - 3499 24
3500 - 3999 40
400 0- 4499 12.2
5000 - 5499 0

Starboard engine is within 1-2 hours for each range.

Cold engine compression on both engines ranged from 149 - 153.

So low variance, which is good. Is 149 - 153 good compression?

Lots of run hours below cruise at 3500, should I be concerned?

Thanks

Looks like a lot of cocktail cruising. I think you’re good to go.

Low wear and tear with low rpms. Compression numbers good. Engine hours close too. I wouldn’t be concerned with any of these numbers although I’m sure someone will find something alarming here.

Nothing to be concerned with around those numbers.. Probably a lot of no wake zones in the area or booze cruising..... I spend a lot of time at idle exploring the canyons of Lake Powell...

Where is the boat located?

2 reputable mechanics said not to worry about the high low rpm hours on those engines. At least they have not been abused at high rpms.

Thread drift warning...just noticed you're in Deltaville. That's where we bought our boat in 2012. Not overly impressed with the surveyor. Loved the area.

I am not in Deltaville, I know the area well. Kept one of my last boats there and lived their from 5th grade thru 9th.
