My wife really likes the 340, especially the forward cabin, but I am concerned about the engine room being too crowded. Is it really a pain to do maintenance on those engines as people say? I would like to have an honest opinion from 340 owners.

It all depends on how big you are! I'm 6'1", 275# and I can assure you that it is a huge pain-in-the-as& to get down in there. I've got 7.4's w/V-drives and I also have my buddy Mike, who's 5'8" and fits in there real good! Find a small friend and feed him beer and you should have no problems!

Beer AFTER the work is done. That way it gets done right.....

If it has the center line berth and you are over 5'8" you are going to hang off.

The outdrives get better fuel economy, and most O/D engine rooms are more maneuverable than V drive engine rooms.
