SeaLand Bow & Seal Cleaner in LectraSan?

Vic,

We have a several-year-old LectraSan, with a Sea Era head. Just wondering if the SeaLand Bowl & Seal Cleaner will harm this system?

Don't know; there are lots of products out there and we don't have a staff chemist to evaluate all of them. Many of them can ruin the coating on the electrodes inside the Lectra/San ($$$). Just as an aside, you have a Raritan head and a Raritan Lectra/San - why wouldn't you use Raritan cleaning products?

That's no doubt a good suggestion, Vic. My marina neighbor was raving about the other stuff and I thought I'd get some read advice from you. Which Raritan product to you recommend for basic cleaning and lubricating?

The only toilet cleaning product Raritan recommends is "CP - Cleans Potties" It also has some lubricating properties - and it smells nice!

And CP works. It is an enzymatic cleaner and sometimes it helps to squirt it on and let it sit a minute or two on stains. It has worked every time on our head. We have a Raritan Purasan, so it needs the right cleaner like the other Raritan treatment systems.

Hey Vic,

I'm on my second bottle of RC. It's been doing a pretty darn good job of cleaning the head and making things smell nice. What's the difference between RC & CP?

Kurt, they're two totally different products. RC (Raritan "Concentrate") is primarily a deodorizer that is diluted in water and metered into the toilet a little at a time, with each flush. It has some lubricating ability and also has a certain amount of disinfecting ability, although it isn't advertised or sold as a disinfectant.

"CP - Cleans Potties" on the other hand, is a bio-enzymatic toilet cleaner and is often used in conjunction with "KO - Kills Odor," which is a holding tank additive. CP and KO are perfectly compatible. KO uses live bacteria in solution to break down and liquify the holding tank's contents.

However, RC is not compatible with either CP or KO - each will neutralize the other, so that the net result becomes - "nothing at all."

If you use RC, don't use either of the other two products together with it. If you use CP or KO, don't use RC with them.
