Good morning Guys,

Fellow dock mate needs your assistance. His system isn't holding pressure on the head. You can hear the pump running. This unit is in a 2000 SeaRay. What areas should he look into, before calling in the maintenance guy?

Thanks in advance...

- is water staying in the bowl ? if not, there is debris in the seal in the ball valve...

- does the pump cycle or does it just run and never stops ?

if it cycles, then it's building pressure and you have a small vac leak somewhere. shut down everything on the boat incl. AC and listen carefully around the base of the bowl or neat any connection in the line, clamp, etc... usually you can hear a leak...

if you dont' hear anything, check the duckbill vavle on the pump inlet. if they're original, they're due for replacement... it's easy, just unscrew the inlet and replace.

- if it doens't cycle on and off, is it building vacuum?

when you try to flush, is there some vacuum and is water being sucked in ? is so, the pump is building a vacuum but not enough... the problem can be a defective vac switch or a weak pump.

if it doesn't build vacuum or very little, then it's ether the pump (duck bills) or a clog. there are only 2 places for a clog... bottom of the head (under the ball valve, you'd see it) or at the duckbill valve on the pump inlet.
