Do you guys think there's a case to be made for running the GPS and VHF off a seperate battery? Or is that overkill?

) going to fit a small separate 12V battery for a PC based chart-plotter, so I wondered if it might be a good idea to run the GPS and VHF off this too - just in case of a catastrophic failure of the boat electrics, such as if the boat is taking on lots of water and the electrics short out
