Wife and I took a top down cruise down Hwy 160 yesterday and lunched at Whimpys. Went over to check on the boat at our marina. Fired up the engines and walked up to the flybridge. Noticed some upholstery foam and material on the floor. Looked in the captains chair and there is a baby raptor of some type along with a couple dead mice and an unhatched egg nestled in what used to be my seat. Now I will have to wait until the bird is able to fly on its own to use the boat.

Reminds me of when I had a boat at Bruno's Island back in 1997. An owl had a nest in a tree right across the dock walkway from my boat. Small critter parts everywhere below the nest. Fascinating to see it all but so glad it was not going on IN my boat. You have my sympathy.

Reminds me of the story I heard about a guy checking on his boat and finding three people in his boat fishing and drinking beer without his knowledge or permission....maybe we should check the boat more often.

Come to think of it, when I had a boat at Oxbow, owls used to nest at the top of the large metal poles that the sheds are attached to. Never saw any going near the boats.

I was at the boat on Thursday and the owl was still there but had flown a couple feet away. We went down over the weekend and it was finally gone. We spent hours on Sunday cleaning off the owl poop, pellets, and animal parts. The carpet on both decks are ruined and the captains seat will need to be re-upholstered. Hope this was a one time thing.

It will be if you have a cover made for the bridge. Owls have a hell of a time undoing the snaps.

Well at least the government didn't declare your boat a bird sanctuary then it would be off limits but you would still have to maintain the boat.
I'd agree with David get a good cover to eliminate nesting....

I do have canvas for the entire upper deck. Prolly be a good idea to re-install next winter.

UMMMM......Prolly be a good idea to re-install it NOW!!!!!

While what BillyIII said was humorous, in Cali it may not be far from the truth. I think the mayor in that area is a harbor seal.
