I had the pleasure of fishing with J Keeler and Bill Kassakatis yesterday on the middle Chesapeake Bay out of Chesapeake Beach.
The current chart proved to be correct on Wednesday, Aug 23, 2006 as the readings showed the swiftest current to be running between 9am and 12:30pm at our first location. When we arrived we were greeting by some nice striped bass and bluefish.
The majority of striped bass caught today were 17" and larger and the bluefish ranged in the 4 pound range.
John Landed the 1st Keeper
This Fish Were Feeding On
Omega Missed This One
And on silversides through the entire day.
Big Mac Attack
Most Productive Lure
Another Nice Mac
This Was Going On All Afternoon
Fish were hitting the lure on the run.
It's only going to get better as the year progresses.
Fishing Tip: When using casting spoons take 10 or more with you when bluefish and Spanish mackerels are around.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Tom Hughes
