I am lost on what exact distributor replacements I need. I keep seeing the LH/RH not mattering. Is that possible? 1984 454's.

No, there is a standard LH model and a separate RH model of Delco Voyager EST kits. The RH is about $100 more as I recall . Some say the difference is only the direction the bevel gear is cut at the bottom of the shaft for the oil pump , but I can't confirm that and preferred to get what the mfg offered for that RH engine.
I had both LH and RH ones installed on my previous set of I/Bs and they were superb. Much better than the Delco's on my newer blue MPI engines.

My winter yard installed the Voyager kits which were very highly recommended by Crusader, so I can't advise as to any installation particulars for those.

Obviously these kits won't solve a problem which is not distributor/coil/cable related, but it sounds like you feel you have eliminated most all other suspects. They would still be a good upgrade anyway , just judging from my having had them for ~~10 yrs.

My boat was stored for the winter off-island when the subject of getting decent electronic distributors came up at the winter yard . After talking directly to Crusader factory I was advised the Voyagers were the only way to go for best results, so the yard ordered them possibly from Crusader, and installed them.

But I think there are at least a couple sources for you .

This one looks a little different and ...may... not be the actual Voyager kit, so personally I would stick to the one above if back in stock now:

Checked my engines. Both have standard rotation (Firing Order 18436572). I'm assuming the tranny's are reversed.

Why can't you just use the old drive gear? A simple roll pin was what held then on in the past.

Probably could but no need now that both engines confirmed same rotation (unlike my last boats).

That's helpful! You can confirm with a quick crank of each engine while looking at them.
