this problem occurred last month soon after fitting a new starter motor.
i checked the ring gear and found a broken tooth.
next step was engine out and renew the ring gear.that all done i go to start the engine , a 3LT LX mercuriser and the same thing happend. it turns very briefly then just spins or whines. any suggestions please before i lose my cool?
