Stockton Marina Opening Sep 30, 2009

An interesting video. The mayor mentions that the marina was supposed to have been one of the first things done, but later points out that it took "10-12 years" to get done.

Since they managed to build only 66 slips and 1398 feet of linear guest dock for the $22,380,750 in public funds spent, I can only imagine that it took a long time to figure out how to siphon off as much money as possible. In the end, they couldn't even get it open early enough to help Trish, who believed city representations that it would be done this summer and opened a restaurant, which she since had to close for lack of business.

Am I cynical? On this project, and on Stockton as a (w)hole, you bet.

Good to see it finally opened. I was thinking about taking the boat for a ride today so that will be a good place to cruise and check it out.
Does anyone know if the bar is open at the warehouse? Guess I will find out if I go. Should be a good day to be on the water.
