Not very good news, I'm sorry to say.

I just got off the phone at 2:15: talking to a friend at my marina. That's Spindrift Marina on the San Joaquin river on Andrus Island.

Winds up to 50 MPH. Four foot waves hitting the levee near B & W, splashing up on the roadway. Roofing is beginning to loosen on marina sheds. Some small tool sheds have blown away and hit boats.

The gas dock at Spindrift is protected by a large tule berm between it and the river. There are white caps in there right now.

There are a lot of trucks moving riprap and dumping along the levees. This is some very serious floodfighting. The roads to the island (and other Delta islands) may be closed to anything except emergency traffic.

I was going to do what I did yesterday and make a trip out to the island. My plan yesterday was to move the boat if it looked like the marina was going to break loose at high tide. I least I could take the boat out and anchor somewhere.

Moving the boat today is not an option. Not in 4 ft waves and 50 MPH gusts. Looks like I'll have to stay home and keep my fingers crossed. Discretion here, is the better part of valor.

My advise to anyone concerned about their boats on the delta: STAY HOME! Don't get in the way of the flood fighters. No levee breaches have happened: let the levee workers do their job.
