Stuck Valve????... Update

Okay, so the Merc manual says to torque the manifold bolts to 25 lb-ft. Not so... Tightened the bolts about 3/4 turn more... No more bang bang,knock knock. I kinda knew it sounded like an exhaust leak, just more "metallic" than I remember. It's all good now, but think I need a carb.

Rislone might have been a better choice. However: keep your firngers crossed.
 
Don't run it you can beat the cam lifters etc just pull the valve cover and free up the valve
 
Pull the valve cover to see if the pushrod is still intact. A valve stuck from rusting in place will shatter the pushrod, not to mention the piston trying to push it upward.
 
That's great you feel that was the problem and is solved without bent, burned or sticking parts. Had you re-torqued the fasteners a few run heat cycles after last manifold replacement ?
 
Sandy, I had put the new manifolds on at the end of last season, this was the first run. I will re-torque after a few runs.
