Just recently, my hot water started to stink like sulphur. It did not do this at the beginning of the season. When I come down to the boat, I throw the breaker to the heater and after a little while, I purge the system to help get rid of the odor. This helps, but you still smell the eggs in the boat. During the winter, I removed the heater and cleaned it out thoroughly. I also replaced the anode from Boatfix(sales plug). I have not heard anyone else complain about the water. My cold side is fine. Any ideas?

Fll the tank with fresh water, add a cup of bleach, let it slosh around several hours, empty and flush with fresh water. Refill and add a cup of white bleach, let it slosh around, empty and flush. The bleach gets rid of the egg smell, the vinegar gets rid of the bleach! If at first you don't succeed, do it again

I think LarryB made a typo. I think he meant to say, " Refill and add a cup of white vinegar," in the second sentence.

After that whenever you fill your tanks filter the water. If you can keep the sulfur out of the water heater in the first place you won't have the problem. Works for me.

When you say add to the tank, are you talking about the heater? While I am in the dock, my fresh water system bypasses my fresh water tank. I only use the fresh water tank while we are under way.
I did install a whole house water filter to my city water supply on the dock.

I did mean vinegar!! Yes fill the tank and when you are ready to drain, use the hot water faucets insuring the bleach flushes the lines. Not using the water in your tanks promote stale water or I should say allows bacteria to form. Water filters can be installed after the tanks as well.

I am curious what is a good filter to install after the fresh water tanks? Thanks in advance. Bill

If you can do it, it would be better to put the filtration system before the tank, as a lot of the filters reduce your water flow down to where you can pee more than comes out of the faucet or shower.

My water filtration system is mounted on the dock, right before water comes on-board to the boat.

I use a simple RV in-line filter (cheap) connected to the fill hose whenever I fill my tanks. I don't hook up directly to shore water. As sulfur is (probably) your main concern; find one that addresses that. I use activated charcoal; it has to be replaced from time to time but they're fairly inexpensive.
