The peripheral canal is dead: for this year...

Bill---nice to hear from you again!

Actually, I'm not surprised at all. I remember the drought years in the early 1970's. In the Bay Area, rationing was a mandatory 25%, but in southern CA, they only had to ration 10% and it was voluntary!!!!! [:-censored]

They should be paying twice as much for their water and having a 50% mandatory reduction in usage. Just look at all those golf courses in the desert for cryin' out load!!! [:-blindfold]

Got any more kerosene? [:-banghead]

I was talking with someone who works for the Delta Vision Blue Ribbon Task Force last evening. The task force will issue its strategic plan in October, but will release a draft version of the strategic plan next month in June.

Expect some fireworks then.

Talking last night I detected some frustration that the Governeror's Blue Ribbon Panel has not been able to come up with any ideas that were not developed in prior work done by CALFED.

After some probing I got the impression that we will be seeing a continuance of the current through Delta conveyance plan for at least another fifteen years, perhaps with some lowered export figures. Isolated and dual conveyance schemes are still the alternernatives, but fifteen years of research are needed to understand the relationship between water exports and Delta ecology and how to balance the two.

This is total opinion on my part because I wasn't getting many direct answers, but we'll see what happens next month.
