The salt line has actually entered Still Pond Creek. We were anchored out at our favorite spot on the creek a ways back fro the cut and the basin, 7 neighbors families, 7 boats, enjoying s few adult beverages and doing some water skiing (well, them, not me). Noticed that the water was most definately salty. First time I noticed that much salt so far beck in the creek. Neighbors who had traveled outside the creek told us that they spotted sea nettles in the cut. If that's not a sign of a lack of rain I don't know what is. I'm pulling the boat later today and going to start the winterization process. Once she's in the garage I have a full winter's worth of projects and I'm anxious to get started.

Mike, We saw three nettles over the course of about two hours on the sand bar, near the mooring field on Saturday afternoon. It was an outgoing tide, so they were coming from even further in.

Chuck, we were anchored about a mile back with the "folks from da hood" late Satyrday afternoon. Didn't see any nettles there. We hauled the boat for the season on Sunday.... never had so many barnacles even on any of our big boats! (Note to self: Super Slick super sucks) Spent Sunday afternoon becoming one with my pressure washer. I'm going to be spending many winter hours with a scraper, sandpaper, barrier coat and a few coats of ablative before I splash in the spring. Thankfully, she fits in the garage! Enjoy the remaining month or so of the season... we're done.
