Not if they are where mine are major PIA. Need to lift over motor with very little clearance. I had them change just before I bought my boat and they broke my oil pressure gauge by accident but didn't know that they did it. What a mess in my trip home. I had a few gallons of oil in my bilge as a result. I think they may have relocated the batteries on the newer models to the center which is where they should be.
 
Lay out protective coverings over the carpet. Then crawl around in front of the engine to a tight place no human should fit into and remove box covers and cables. Bounce aft battery off forward then around in front of engine onto a board that bridges over the strainers for the genny and AC (goofed here and cracked one). Crawl out of tight space over the battery hoping not to knock it off the board. Pull it out into center, hoist up onto salon floor, then up stairs to aft deck, then down stairs to dock and dolly. Repeat again for the forward battery and reverse twice to install.
Consume Advil and booze.

Here's what it looks like to install new turbo blankets. The batteries are under my feet. Two more to port. Moving 8Ds around is never to be looked forward to.

Mine are in between the engines, so they are easy to get to, just a PITA to lift them all the way out and put them back in. Not to mention lifting them 6' to get them on the swim platform.
 
At least I did ours in the water so all we had was up the stairs to the aft deck. Otherwise it's 6' to the swim platform and then another 5 or 6 feet to the aft deck. Did that with the freezer in Charleston. Ugh.
 
Well this was a pretty crappy weekend. Not much got done but pulled the cover and started the cleaning. It was just too cold to get much done. I have been home for hours and I still feel the chill. I guess there is always next week. The marina was dead this weekend not too many people braved this weather just a few diehards.

At least it's not snow. I'm heading to Canada so the rain here just helps me feel I'm not missing anything. If it was sunny I would be thinking I should be at the boat cleaning and painting.
 
I hope it rains at night only - Need to get the boat waxed tomorrow so it can be launched on Thursday.
 
Mike you are the best weatherman.. Glad I did not take the cover off. Two more days, then she is off.

Sounds like you should spread some soap on the boat and it'll be all ready to wax when the sun comes back out.

PS. 4 dead in Freeport due to Tornadoes. It's just coming into the Cays now. Fortunately it broke up quite a bit after Freeport.
 
I took mine off on Saturday then Froze my a$$ off on Sunday trying to clean but it was way to cold to accomplish much.

Nope. We are on Guana. We just heard someone is dragging in Marsh. They're hitting other boats etc..
 
This puts Lincoln Harbor during rush hour to shame. The video is of the boat behind us, and we are in the second row of slips back from the break water. Believe it or not this was not the worst rocking that we took. I can only imagine what they felt like when it was really bad. If they were mixing drinks they didn't have to shake them!

I'm sure. I've been on the Rondout like that also. The thing about it is this. You are close to home, and these people are not. Many folks here are chartering and are clueless. Many others are not.
You know the drill.

Always a show. Hopefully we are prepared enough not to be the actors. Plenty of chatter on 68 tonite about what happened in Marsh.
 
We all this rain maybe you better make sure the plug is in before your boat sinks on land. They are predicting another 3"+ today this is out of control.
