This is a copy of our old friend Brads track through Tiana Bay. I am going to a party on the beach on the north part of the bay. Does anyone have local knowledge of the area that reads 5' and is it accurate. My boat draws 4'. Will it be deep enough.

Been thru many a time and have never touched but it is very shallow in spots.
Are you going thru moriches?
With your draft I would go out Moriches Inlet or Fire Island Inlet and come in shinnecock.
Then double back.
Coming under the Ponoqugue bridge you need to follow the channel and it is good water but easy to miss the red buoy 12 which I did when I led Andy thru that one year. I never picked up that buoy before as I had outdrives but I always pick it up now.

As for Tiana Bay itself, I see readings of 4.9 mean throughout, so at low tide you may have issues!
If you come and go and high you may be okay but not sure what your water will be like once there as near shore it looks shallow.
 
Hi Dave, as you know I am an ocean guy if I have a choice. I hate to have to follow the buoys, but I'm not going to go out Fire Island and come in Shinnecock to go to Hampton Bays. I know I draw about the same as you and am planning a high tide trip. I have the little boat (to get to and from shore) so if the low water is 5' I'm good.

The boat has not moved much in the last two years,but it is ready for an overnight.If you have a cookie trail through Moriches and Tiana bays, that would be helpful. I'm also going to contact Sea Tow to see what help they can be.

When you doing this? I draft 41" and I don't squat when in gear due to the forward facing props. I have a cookie trail on my other ipad, not with me. Will dig it out for you and send but we went up and around towards inlet and seatow now says the straight across channel is clear again and deep.

I have friends who went thru July 4th and they didn't report any issues but I think the deepest draft in the bunch was 39"

Definitely high tide.
How you getting both boats out there?

I am going to run at 10 knots, so no squatting will occur, ha-ha. I need about the same draft as you. I have also heard to go straight instead of looping around the inlet dogleg. The area I was told was iffy was between buoy 15 and 29. Is that where you mean.
I am leaving Patchogue this Saturday around 1:00.

yes that is the bad area.
Worst is by red 24 and 26 if I recall.
Used to say to split those buoys taking red 24 on wrong side, not sure that still appliies.
Don't attempt to be on plane at all between them.
High tide looks to be around 3:08 so you should be at almost high which is good.

Issue with your boat will be when it gets skinny, won't be alot of room especially if another big boat is coming other way.

I wouldn`t cut any bouys, was in there on a rising tide a couple seasons ago and dragged bottom twice....personally I would definately go outside next time
