I tow a 17 ft four winns bowrider (listed at 2040 lb from factory). Used to use a Merc Grand Marquis and never had a problem. Sold the car and am now considering using a 94 chev conversion van mounted on a 3/4 ton chassis. Per the book I'm well under the weight limit but was interested in any comments from someone who used a conversion van for towing.
