Tugboat Capsized in the Hudson

Rare, butnot uncommon, loads on lines get pulled amidships, rather than fore and aft, thuis pulling the boat over. Usually caused by unexpected currents or wind shifts. Happens with some regularity in inland waters during a manouver called "downstreaming" in fast curents. The pros who run these boats have a dangerous job; that things like this are rare is a testiment to their ability.
 
Some of those boats are pretty old as well. Years ago we saw one of them getting some emergency welding at a town dock on the Champlain Canal. The water line was completely rusted and part of it opened up. So a welder went in and patched it up so it could continue on.
It was only 31' long and had just dropped off two hands on a barge. Not much detail on this one.
