We anchored out Saturday night and did not run the generator. We are still learning about our boat and we assumed we would be good for one night on the batteries.
When we went to leave yesterday we had no power to the port engine. Radio was dead and the engine lift would not lift. Starboard engine had plenty of power. We idled out for about 30 minutes. My hope was the starboard engine would charge the port batteries.
It did and we got the port engine going.
So now I know the batterie(s) that start the port engine also power most, perhaps all, of the battery operated stuff on the boat. My assumption is the refrigerator drained the battery.
Should we have run the genny when anchoring out for more than a few hours (overnight)? Will the refrigerator and other stuff run off the genny automatically? Should we switch the batteries somehow (I see 2 battery dials under one of the helm seats)?
