Hello All,
I'm replacing my original Sanipottie w/ a Raitan PHII manual toilet. The Sanipottie had a pumpout so I just installed a holding tank in the eng comp. and hooked the output to the pumpout and the input to the out of the new toilet. My question is .. is it OK to use a splice and hose clamps for the odorsafe hose? Second, is there a preferred way to route the pumpout hose?( The holding tank output is on the side bottom. So is there a need to have a loop or something special I need to do with the pumpout hose? It seems to be pretty short and direct to the hull pumpout -seems too easy and that I'm not doing something correctly?
Any advice is greatly appreciated-

Sure, it isn't the best way to do it, but it's done all the time. The splice area will be a little more prone to acquiring a clog, than if it were a smooth run - but mechanically, it's fine.

If there's no intent to pump out the tank at sea (you've gotta be 3 or miles out in the ocean to legally do it), then you've plumbed it fine. A loop shouldn't be necessary. But you didn't make any mention of having the tank vented. It's got to be vented or you can't fill it or pump it out. Vent line will run from the top of the tank (or high up on one of the side walls) to a through-hull fitting well above the waterline of the boat - up near the toerail.

Perfect- thanks for the information. I did vent it as you described.
I just wasn't certain about the splice. Should I have used any specific type of splice connection? Plastic or metal.. is one better than the other? Same question with respect to the connections on the tank- plastic or metal?

Thanks Vic! Invaluable advice. Last question on this...
When mounting the new toilet. I'm using the existing holes in the boat's deck( didn't want to make more holes) to secure a 3/4 painted plywood base to which I mounted the Raitan. Is there a better method of securing the plywood to the deck other than the similar type of screws the old Sani pottie used? Maybe some type of toggle or anchor? I can't get under the floor on my Sea Ray to place a backing plate-
Just curious...
Thanks
