No going east this year, decided to head to the Canyon Club in Monmouth for the week after the fourth. Going with another boat from our marina, they will trailer their CC down, so we'll get some fishing in, and the kids can get away from the adults for a while.

jonf, rumor has it that I will have to go under several bridges, any advice????

We are sticking around for the 4th, will watch the fireworks at Peekskill and Bowline.

Anyone else have any plans?

Do you mean the Channel Club? It's a great place, we go every year for at least a week. There seems to be a school of porpoises in the Shrewsbury that won't leave! What a treat to see. If you need any info on this area, let me know.

Yes we've been there several times and we've always enjoyed it. Waiting until after the 4th is a great idea, since the beaches will be mobbed that week. It was wall to wall people all the way from monmouth down to long branch the weekend after the 4th last year. Because of all the private clubs the general public gets pinched into less area.
But our vacation plans start in October. Goin South!!!
 
See you there! We will be there from the 3rd to the 6th. Then off to Newport Marina.. Spend sometime in the city. We cancelled the Nantucket trip due to the fuel costs.
 
We are thinking of going to the Channel club for a long weekend in August. But not sure yet. Still tryign to get one normal weekend on the boat local first.
 
Leaving Friday (4th.) morning for Center Island with a few fellow Anchors.

We are realy looking forward to getting back there.. so many great memories..
Nothing like a weekend on the hook in Center Island.
 
We're in Kingston now for the weekend, leaving tomorrow. The fireworks show was fantastic and we had a great view from the boat. AFter the show, we watched the parade of people heading home then a wicked storm blew in...I got caught in it walking the dog!!

Only other boating vacation will be....The Channel club probably last weekend in July. After that, we do land trips, week in Berkshires, week somewhere in Catskills with friends (golf and grilling).

The Channel club is almost as easy a trip as Kingston. We went there for the first time last year and absolutely loved it! The pool, tiki bar, small town feeling (Michaelangelo's pizza, ice cream shop) and the beach. There's plenty to do down there.
 
Champlain for 2 weeks in august , rest just local 3 day weekends L.I. sound and up and down the river so far...
Where is this channel club ? jersy?

You mean the hudson river anchor and raft up club is actually goimg to go under the bridges :)...
