Folks,
This is the most frustrating thing I have faced in over 30 years of boating! I have a 1994 Volvo 5.7 GL with a DP-S outdrive. I also have a Clymer's manual allegedly for this unit. I want to drain the drive unit lube and replace it, but the lower unit has no drain screw that I can find on the "torpedo" section of the lower unit as shown in the manual. I removed the upper unit cap and there is the fill hole, and the dip stick is in the top of the drive unit, but there is no drain hole anywhere I can see. Where is the lower unit drain hole on this #$%?
The lube I managed to get out using a suction pump was really stinky and black, but no water. It sure looked to me like 30 weight oil instead of the 75-90 weight gear lube I expected. What is the Volvo recommended lube for this unit?
