Go back in the forums a couple weeks and you will see it was brought up and discussed at length I believe. Still a pain in the ..s

Water hyancinth has been an issue in the Delta since the late 70's that I am aware of. It (literally) comes and goes with the tide...

Get rid of the enviro-whacko's and we can get rid of the hyancinth... [:-boggled]

It is always worst this time of year....even in a "good" year. It takes the cold winter storms to send it into hibernation.

I have heard that the state did not spray this year, or very little and it has gotten out of hand. I went by Village West were I have my boat Wed. and it was packed in pretty good. The worst I have seen it. I'll be pulling my boat out for the winter in a few days so i wont be dealing with it any more this year.

I think its great stuff to have around to send to SoCal for the winter. Merry Xmas, LA.

We have a lot of that in our fresh water lakes and rivers. State and Feds spray it all the time.
It just turns brown, sinks, then comes back next year. Some lakes can be drawn down to mud and
it kills it. But next year, it's back. It seems like there is no way to get rid of it.

I've watched those guys spraying the stuff. They will deliberately not spray it 100%. I think they called it "job security" knowing that it would be back again next year. I doubt that it could be eradicated 100% anyway, but it could definitely be kept under control if the state had the money OR if the regs would allow private landowners to spray their areas.

Wow. I haven't been to Village West for awhile before stopping by today to drop something off at the boat. It has been there all summer, but it is much worse now than it has been before. Coverage is solid between many of the docks 1/2 - 2/3rds of the way out from shore. They had a bunch of people working on it, and the parking lot was full of WH that had already been removed, so it must have been even worse a few days ago.

In past years I have stolen some of the damn stuff to put in my fishponds in Fresno and you know what, It won't grow......go figure

There's plenty more to take if you want to try again.

I used to have a couple of aquariums and kept delicate fish, and grew many plants, but the Ergeia would always die. Go figure.
