I got a Transalert E-Mail from the Canal Corp. yesterday morning that said theat Lock E-2 at Waterford is closed but with no other information as to why or for how long. I waited till today to check the New York State Website and the Notice to Mariners doesn't say anything about it. Anybody in the area know anything about it? Seems sort of silly to close E-2 and not close E-3-4 and 5 cause if you're headed East there's no place to go except into the next lock from E-5 on.......

I have not heard anything. We had some North bound folks here that left and did not mention anything nor did they stay longer. Could be there was some flooding from the storms that came through today? I believe they have a phone number you can call. I just checked the alerts and saw nothing. Hopefully it is short lived. It's not unusual for them to shut down once in a while.

I went there too and didn't see anything. I got the info in an E-Mail from the State. There's a spot on their website where you can sign up for alerts. Whenever anything goes down on the Canal System they automatically send you an alert. They are rather vague about it though.
