After 18 days and nights on the boat, travelling to Branford, CT; Old Saybrook, CT;, Mystic, CT; Block Island, RI; Newport, RI; Watch Hill, RI; Westbrook, CT and Croton, we are back. We put 26 hours on the engines, burned 400 gallons of fuel and travelled about 400 miles.

Had some iffy weather, it was windy too much and we travelled through some rough seas (6'). Spent time with some great friends, had lots of fantastic food (sushi at the Oar), drank awesome beer and spent quality time with my admiral, our two sons and their girlfriends.

It's trips like this that make the expense and heartache of boating all worth it.

Were you going downhill the whole way?

As always it was great meeting up in Block. Who can forget the great mudslide competition! ;)

I know, when I top off the tanks, I can get an exact number. I think it is pretty close.

It sounds about right to me assuming you had a bit of slow speed travel in the crappy weather or waiting an hour for a slip at block, this really throws off the numbers. Got to love our Trojans!!!!

We didn't have to wait too long at Block, probably about 4 hours of idle speed.

Recent trip we took to Greenport and Montauk, we ran about 14 hours and I burned 167 gallons.
I would say idle time in that was a good 5 hours with Moriches, locks, and waiting for buddies to fuel up.
Still not bad about 12gph.
When my boat is at optimal cruise, I am doing 28mph and burning 23gph.

Hogan 4 hours at idle would burn less then 1 hour at cruise so if you subtract three hours from your total run time to offset the idle time that puts youat 23 hours
400/23=17.39 per hour this it still too good to be true what am I missing? I suspect you had I bit more slow to idle speed cruise on the trip then you thought. Regardless the real number that maters is the 400 miles and 400 gallons that what I like to hear!!

If I ever get my trip off the groundthis year I will reset my trip meter to compare notes.

That was just the longest 4 1/2 days of my life.

Welcome back to the working world!
I had a tough week as well!!!
Last week my back went out while at dock I had to work this week because I didn't have any help due to vacations my son had to drive me to work everyday I was in no condition to drive. I have had an MRI and seen two doctors still not feeling great but better. Yesterday I had a couple of injections not sure if they helped much.
I'm still hoping go on a boat trip next Friday but not sure this is a grewt idea!

Hope you feel better....

Looking forward to meeting you out there this coming Saturday or whenever you get out there.

I won't make it to block until Wed if all goes well. I plan to spend three night at MYC then onto Block for three nights.
