Help Carver owners: See pics. I recently bought this 1991 Carver 26' command bridge. Manual head.(1st pic) The bigger 1.5" raw sea water valve I assume is for the head. The smaller valve(pic 2)I'm not sure what this is for.(handle missing) maybe for a sea water washdown in aft of boat? or an override to fill the fresh water holding tank? pic-1 shows bigger valve on starboard side. Pic-2 smaller valve on port side. Thanks for any advice gents.

a) trace the hoses. Could be outlet for MSD or something else.
b) smaller could be inlet for any raw water pump ( washdown, live bait well ) or inlet for raw water flush head.

This is the pic for the larger sea water valve on the bottom of the boat at starboard side.
2nd pic is port side valve from bottom of boat.
I believe they are both intakes correct?

a) do you have overboard discharge?

b) do you have air conditioning?

showerhead type is typical of generator intake.
Did you notice that splitting on the stringer in the second picture??

Without being able to trace the hose, I am not 100% but I am 95% positive the larger one(top one) with the white(sewage discharge type hose) with a thru-hull that does not have an intake strainer is your holding tank or (toilet) overboard discharge.
Trace the second one , it is an intake one that will most likely go to 1. genset 2. air conditioning water intake

No gen or A/C on the boat. There is a holding tank discharge to the deck and threw hulls. Is raw water the most commonly used for the marine toilet? I'm aware of that stringer issue whole nother topic to post.

the the era of grey bilges, yes...the toilet draws from the lake (ocean), and I agree with gbarger on the larger one being overboard discharge

Carver usually has the holding tank plumbed to allow pumpout at the pumpout station by using the deck discharge and an additional overboard underwater option by using a macerator pump. Follow that large white pipe and I suspect you will find it going to a pump which is then plumbed to the holding tank either directly or by a y valve.

Quint, Couldn't help but I noticed that your stringer has a huge crack in it? I would repair that before it becomes a more serious problem, also noticed some bare electrical wiring laying on there as well, that should be capped or removed. I would check the Carver site for more info on those valves, you may find more info from them?

Have that stringer checked for water intrusion. Those cracks could indicate water got in and the wood inside swelled and cracked the fiberglass overlay. Check those bare electric wires for any voltage. It looks as though someone took out a bilge pump and did not clean up the wiring. If there is a voltage on any of those wires and the bilge gets damp you could have massive electrolosis problems with engines or fittings.

P.S. Find a handle for the thru-hull or replace it. It's very important they all operate and are able to close.

What is this hand pump item thing that is on the starboard side not far from the bigger valve? I also have wider pics of the valve and were the hoses go. My FW deck fill cap is on the port. Pumpout on starboard. The last pic is of the smaller port side valve and you can see the smaller hose heading rate towards the head cutting through the middle bulkhead. Good chance it is for the toilet? That sringer and wires are on my to do list. I'll post on that in the future.

Quint, the larger one is a manual overboard discharge, and i'm still assuming the smaller one is your head water pickup.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Anyone out there know what that pump with handle & knob is? It's the same manufacturer as my bilge pump: "mule". Is this a manual bilge pump or an actual manual pump out for the waste overboard discharge?
