What should my 1999 Trojan 440 Cruise at?

Hi Guys

I picked up our 99 Trojan 440 at the end of last year and we've not used her yet for anything other than a couple of overnight stays at the Marina.

We have the Diamond Series Cummins 450c Engines. I'm interested to hear from other owners with the same configuration what their Cruise and WOT speeds are so that I can use it as a reference for when I test ours after its service this week.

More important than speed is max RPM's. Those engines should top out at 2750 at WOT.
 
Thanks Hogan, I will be aiming for 2750 WOT. I'm trying to get some comparison from other folks for how their Cummins 450c's perform and what numbers they are considering the norm so that I have some sort of benchmark.

Does anyone have the RPM/Kts mapping for a couple of speeds like Slow Cruise, Normal Cruise and Speed at WOT (2750)?

The rated WOT on those engines is 2600. RPMs above that 2750 etc is to insure that the boat is not overloaded but that is not an allowable running RPM.
As the boat gets loaded and temperatures increase it is common for top RPM to drop. Props in good condition are very important to RPM and boat speed. a seemingly small change in a prop can make a significant difference. If you are still out of the water having a prop scan shop check your props, free, is the way to start. No sense worrying about anything else until the props are right.
 
On a different boat I cruised my 450s at 2250 RPMs and low cruise slow enough to keep the bow down. Don't believe the "hull speed BS" if you want slow speed economy keep the bow down flat and wake to a minimum. Unloaded WOT was 2700 loaded was 2650 or so.
 
Is your Trojan Lubricated or the standard version?

As long as you aren't fighting the tides.
I cruise at 2390 with my cats and that will be anywhere from 20 to 27 MPH but about 23 in the average!
Same boat different motors different props same results. WOT with the tides and a tale wind max 34 once but about 30-31 norm.
