I already contacted the dealer and told him I was going to pass. He of course came back with some less than appropriate responses in my opinion, but that's life.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE POST WHAT HE CAME BACK WITH. What'd he say?

Please!!!!!!!

Thanks again Ken. I already contacted the dealer and told him I was going to pass. He of course came back with some less than appropriate responses in my opinion, but that's life. Thanks again for your time photos and insight...

Follow-Up: Well, after reading the comments http://www.boatered.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=115048, maybe I overreacted, sure seems like alot of work, and not a terribly clean boat. Maybe my standards are too high for a used boat? Unfortunately I'd have to pay for the repairs, since I don't have the time or expertise that you do Ken with repairs.

[/quote]I am sure he blamed me....LOL

Your standards might be high for a used boat, but there are used boats out there that are like new. This one just is not one of them. If it was my boat, I could repair nearly everything including the risers and manifolds for $2500-$3000. But that is not including labor.
I do not know where the best place to look up the value of a boat is. I did look it up on NADA, which did very little informing me of the "standard equipment vs. optional". Looking it up with no options except the engine and drive, I got a price. I personally think that the price you talked to me about was too high after looking it up. However, this is just my opinion. Like I said in my first post, it amazes me that sellers don't spend a little to clean these boats up. "IF" they would have spent a thousand dollars on a good detailing, "AND" the boat cleaned up good, I would up the value I have picked out by up to $7500.00. That would be a good return on investment. But not knowing how well the boat will clean up deducts from the value in my opinion.

I got your email and will respond in a little while.

My wife and I just spent all of yesterday (about 20 man hours) cleaning our new to us boat. The boat was not used much for about two years as PO had moved up. The boat sat in a marina close to a coal power plant and had a film of grime over all exterior surfaces. I scrubbed the decks and vinyl for hours to get that junk off. The boat came out better than I expected. If the PO had spent a little time or money cleaning this boat, I would have been willing to pay more than what I offered since I knew I had a lot of work ahead of me. You wouldn't sell a house with dirty carpets and finger prints on the walls, so why sell a boat in that condition?
